About MACS

"The purpose of the Minnesota Association of Christian Songwriters

is to encourage, educate, and equip songwriters

who are called to use their gifts of music and lyrics

to glorify God, edify the body of Christ,

and point the way to Jesus Christ."

Minnesota Association of Christian Songwriters began in 1990 with a vision to provide the craft of songwriting to Christian artists in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. Since then, we have experienced much growth, with a mailing list of over 100 Christian artists. In 1999, we became a non-profit organization, governed by an elected board of directors; dedicated to serving local Christian songwriters.

MACS meets on a monthly basis to network with members and sharpen our songwriting skills. Some exciting events have taken place at MACS throughout the years. We have sponsored various "songwriting performances" at coffee houses, bookstores, the Minnesota State Fair, and churches, just to name a few. And the vision continues. Music is an integral part of the society in which we live and MACS hopes to continue to help and nurture Christian songwriters, as they seek God's will for their individual ministry. Aside from the monthly meeting, we publish a quarterly newsletter, provide an educational library, offer performance opportunities, workshops, seminars, and CD releases.

We welcome all Christian songwriters, musicians, lyricists, poets, singers, performers, and recording artists. Our members vary in musical interests and styles with skill levels from beginning songwriter to professional. Some of us have a calling to music ministry, while others have an interest in learning more about the art of songwriting...but we all share in a common goal: to glorify God through His gift of music.
